Well it has been a while since I have posted, so here is a quick update…
I have some socks in progress with one of my favorite patterns, Entrelac. It is a great way to put a twist on knitting, and I love the checkerboard pattern when done. Here is a pic of the heel that is turned, (my first short row!!)…

I think these will be awesome socks once they are finished… the yarn is Noro sock yarn and I love the color. Other than the socks in progress, not much is happening. I have singed up for a new dating website called Compatible Partners. It is offered by eHarmony and used the same matching system. So far I have 7 matches! We will see what happens this go round…
Off to work…
peace.

“This certificate recognizes those who have plated a significant role the building of Apple’s phenomenal success. During the past five years, you have given to Apple your talents, Enthusiasm, and energy. We hope you share our feeling that the journey is and will continue to be the reward.”
Wow! What an awesome five years it has been at Apple. Last Saturday was my official anniversary date and on Sunday at our store meeting, me and three others had our certificates presented to us. Its so hard to believe it has been five years! It seems like it was yesterday that I was interviewing for the yet unknown store.

YAY!!! Another Apple Store is opening Saturday! Get ready all you triad people, a brand new Apple Store is opening up Saturday at 10AM. More info at www.apple.com/friendlycenter

Last week I drove up to Greensboro to get out of the Queen City for a few hours, and I drove by the new store in Greensboro. How pretty is this?
I also took the time to check out Gate City Yarns, and met the lovely Tina - one of the shop owners. This place is a spinners paradise! More info is at www.gatecityyarns.com.
Above is just a small sampling of the roving that they sell there. Heres another pic of the shop.
and of course, no visit to Greensboro would be complete without a stop in at Yum-Yum’s. What I consider one of the best (and cheapest) places to eat while in Greensboro.

Now for a knitting update… this just in… Davey has been lazy and is only working on a pair of mittens for a friend. Here is the first one.
Next week I will have more pics to post of these fab mittens, as well as some pictures from Greensboro’s opening. Until then…

Well I finally got too tired of not having a sprayer and a faucet that worked right, so I went out to Home Depot and bought a new one and decided to install it myself. Pretty simple job right? RIGHT!
The major pain in the A@! to this one was that the old faucets bolts were rusted shut… and I mean RUSTED SHUT! A few cursory words were said while I was banging away at the bolts to loosen them after putting the liquid wrench on them. One came off, one didn’t. How did we solve this problem? I pulled out the pliers and started pulling back and forth until the old faucet snapped in two.
Finally I was able to get the old one out and start putting the new one in. After a quick trip back to the Home Depot last night, to get supply lines that were longer, we have a finished project and more importantly, a working faucet! WHO HOO!!!
Here is my handy-work…
Isn’t it lovely?
off to work… peace.

RENT
Ok… its a little on the cheesy side, but is such a true motto to live by. Ever since I saw the first performance of RENT back in 1996, I still can not believe the power that it has over me. The music and the message given within… there truly is NO DAY BUT TODAY as the lyrics say, and I believe Jonathan Larson really lived his life that way. I often wonder if he knew the power that this musical would have for the last 13 years. It’s strange, I find myself a combination of three characters in the musical… and just like Rogers song… you are what you own.
What brings this epiphany to life? Last night I went and saw what is one of the final performances of RENT. I took a new friend who had never seen it before. It is such a joy to me to watch a first timer’s reaction to this show.
In the knitting world… I am still working on the Entrelac hat for Amy. At BAM, I had a friend try it on, and suddenly the phrase Princess Toadstool came to life. Does this look like a Princes Toadstool to you?

Princess Toadstool?
Ok maybe a little bit… sine the hat is made for Amy, I had her try it on to see how the decreases are going to work, and it turns out I need to get some extra yarn to finish the crown. So its off to Charlotte Yarn to get a second skein.
Of course I need to borrow this hat to enter it in the Knitting Guild awards coming up in a couple of months. More info will be posted to www.charlotteknittingguild.com this week if you are interested in the awards. Last year, I won the best project for a year 1 knitter.
Off to the yarn shop then to work…

Say enter what? It’s Entrelac, and it is fabulous! I saw this hat pattern at Charlotte Yarn a couple of weeks ago and knew that I had to tackle it. The hat is for a friend of mine, who’s husband was a recipient of a Helping Hat.
Here is how the hat is looking now after the second set of “triangles.”

Noro is such a nice soft yarn!
I should have the hat completed in a couple of days, maybe even tonight. The pattern is really easy once you get the hang of picking up the stitches and working the rounds.
Satruday, I spent some time up with the Charlotte Purls and had a blast catching up and seeing some old friends!

Pictured here are Rachel and Cristi (turtlegirl76). I even ran into an hold high school friend who is a knitter!
Back to work today for a seven day stretch at the Apple Store, SouthPark. Come say hi if you find yourself in the area!

Well its been a hectic couple of weeks since I last wrote… but they have been some pretty good ones. Work is going well and my anniversary at Apple is growing near! On February 21st, I will have been with Apple Store, SouthPark for FIVE years! An to add to this celebration, I now have a new comfy pair of socks to enjoy. I started these around Christmas, and they have been my traveling knitting for work, lunches, etc…

Don’t they just look all comfy? They are made with Cherry Tree Hill yarn in the African Sunset colorway. I got this yarn from a Ravelry de-stash.

Now I am moving on to a new bath-mat for mom and her bath room and a hat for a very special friend. The hat pattern is from Charlotte Yarn and is the Entrelac Hat Pattern from Pixieknits by Betsy. I can not wait to see this hat once it is completed. I am making it with Noro Transitions yarn.
Tonight I spent the evening with a new friend just hanging out and doing some of the household shopping that all to often becomes a necessity. As I get older, I truly have started to re-evaluate friendships, and know that I need to develop some new friendships and let others go… Since I am a Wikipedia junkie, I looked up the definition of Friendship…
“Friendship is a term used to denote co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more people. It can be taken to mean a supportive relationship which involves mutual knowledge, esteem, and affection.”
How true is this? In our lives, we have people drift in and out of our paths. I have learned this in some joyous and painful ways. I will always cherish the good and the bad times I have spent with my friends, even those who are lost and the friendship seems to have ended. One of the quotes about friendship I have always loved and cherished is this one by Barbara Billings…
“My friend, if I could give you one thing, I would give you the ability to see yourself as others see you… then you would realize what a truly special person you are.”
Until next time…
Davey

This week, I started a little remodeling project at the house. We knew there were hardwood floors under the carpet, so I started to rip up the carpet in the upstairs of the house. Two of the rooms were left hardwood, but the hallway and moms bedroom were carpeted. Here are the pics I took after I finished ripping up carpet.

The floors are in relatively good condition. I will need to sand them and refinish once I finish the downstairs foyer. I started to rip up that area, but discovered particleboard underneath, so it looks like I will need to actually put hardwood down in that area and in the living room. Lets add that to the list.
Yesterday I went to my Dad’s house for Christmas. I dad an awesome time spending time with my sister and my nieces.
Aren’t kids cute when they open presents? Today it is back to work for the start of one of our busiest periods after holiday. Lets hope all the people coming to the store are nice and not naughty!
